اكتشف العلماء فرعًا مدفونًا منذ فترة طويلة من نهر النيل، كان يتدفق بجانب أكثر من 30 هرمًا في مصر، مما قد يفسر كيفية نقل المصريين القدماء الكتل الحجرية الضخمة لبناء هذه الآثار الشهيرة.
وذكر موقع “ساينس أليرت” في تقريره أن فرع النهر، الذي يبلغ طوله 64 كيلومترًا، ويمر بمجمع أهرامات الجيزة الشهير من بين عجائب أخرى، كان مخفيًا تحت الصحراء والأراضي الزراعية لآلاف السنين، وفقًا لدراسة نُشرت يوم الخميس.
بحسب التقرير، فإن وجود هذا النهر يفسر سبب بناء الأهرامات الـ 31 في سلسلة على طول شريط صحراوي في وادي النيل منذ ما بين 4700 و3700 عام مضت.
ويضم الشريط القريب من العاصمة المصرية القديمة ممفيس الهرم الأكبر بالجيزة، بالإضافة إلى أهرامات خفرع وخوفو ومنكاورع.
